About Me

It’s easy for both the patients and their treating physicians to get completely focused on just the treatment of their cancer. We believe in treating the whole person, not just their cancer, with all of the tools we have at our disposal. Cancer care has made quantum leaps in terms of treatment options, but we shouldn’t lose sight of the person behind the diagnosis.

Linda Chan, M.D., medical director of radiation oncology at the MemorialCare Cancer Institute at Saddleback Medical Center, is a board-certified cancer specialist in Radiation Oncology.

Originally from Orange County, Dr. Chan did her undergraduate studies at Harvard University double majoring in biomedical science and healthcare policy. She stayed on to obtain her medical doctorate from Harvard Medical School. She also did research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Department of Radiation Oncology, under a NIH Cancer Research Fellowship and Grunebaum Cancer Fellowship. Following this she went on to complete her residency program at the University of California – San Francisco, where she also served as Chief Resident.

She has authored multiple scientific publications on breast cancer, prostate cancer, and the molecular markers used to diagnose and track cancer. In addition, she works on several committees of national health care policy, both through the American Society of Radiation Oncologists (ASTRO) and the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Dr. Chan is advancing radiation therapy for non-cancerous conditions like osteoarthritis and plantar fasciitis. Using low-dose, precision radiation, her team offers brief, non-invasive treatments that reduce inflammation and relieve pain with minimal side effects. For patients who’ve exhausted other options, this innovative approach provides life-changing relief and improves daily quality of life. As Dr. Chan explains, “We’ve seen patients who previously struggled with daily activities experience meaningful relief. For many, it’s life-changing."

Dr. Chan retains memberships in numerous oncologic societies.

She is on the medical staff at Saddleback Medical Center and is a clinical professor of radiation oncology at the University of California – Irvine.

Dr. Chan’s practice is at the MemorialCare Cancer Institute at Saddleback Medical Center.
